Meet the team: Sally

What is your role at Tutor The Nation?

Programme Delivery Manager and Designated Safeguarding Lead

What does your role entail?

I manage the journey of the tutoring programme. This involves maintaining close relationships with schools, overseeing the tutor–pupil matching process, leading safeguarding across the charity, and reviewing data to improve processes and measure impact.

How did you get into the Charity and Education sector?

As a Syrian born and raised in the British countryside with access to privileged educational institutions, my positionality provided me with intersecting lenses to view the world and its systemic inequalities. I felt compelled towards issues of injustice and began by volunteering in various charities for migrants and refugees. After studying Anthropology at university, I worked for some years as a consultant and learning partner on local place-based systems change with councils and VCSE organisations. I became increasingly interested in education equity and young people’s agency, bringing me to TTN.

Meeting the committed schools and volunteer tutors who work with us.
